Welcome to Room 2s Blog.
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for your kind messages and prayers on the recent death of my Mum. She had been sick for many years so at last she is at peace with Jesus in the Eternal Kingdom.
I look forward to a wonderful year with your children.
My email is marie.andrewartha@sfxtawa.school.nz however I often don’t clear my email until after school so if your message is urgent please email school or ring the office
Our topic for this term is ‘Ko wai ma tatau’-Who are we? As part of this the students will be discussing where we/they come from and creating their own visual mihi. Things to bring to school (to be used in our mihi, these may be cut and pasted!)
• Photos of family( back to grandparents/great grandparents, please label) • Photos of special family activities or holiday places • Information about where their families’ origins are • Iwi if applicable • A river/mountain or anything significant to your whanau • Any family shields or things unique to your family( or a photo of these)
Our RE strand is ‘Church’ We belong to our class/family/church. We will visit our church, meet Father John and find out about his work.
Please come to our Junior liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church 11.30am 2nd March.
17th Feb is Shrove Tuesday and we will be making pancakes and having pancake races.
Please join us for this celebration- if you can help with the pancake making please let me know.
Ash Wednesday 18th Feb: please join us for a special Ash Wednesday Mass in the School Hall at 11am.
St Patricks Day 17 March will be a GREEN Mufti Day- The children wear Green clothes and bring a gold coin donation for the CARITAS Lent appeal.
Our Easter Liturgy will be on Holy Thursday 2nd April at 1.45pm in the school hall.
Swimming will be on Thursdays at 9.45am, at the Tawa school Pool, please make sure all your child’s clothing is named. Thank you for sending the children to school already in their swimming togs.
The Life Education Trust van is visiting us during week 4 beginning 23rd Feb The children love visiting Harold the Giraffe who will be helping us learn about ‘Being Friends Together’
Our School Library day is now on Fridays
