Junior Syndicate Newsletter Term 2
Our swimming programme at the Tawa school Pool was awesome. Small groups and good instructors meant that the children made great progress. Thanks to all who were able to help us.

EOTC Week-Education Outside the classroom. While our senior students are at camp we will be enjoying our own out door activities. Wednesday 22 April (if fine) will be tent day. We will be putting up tents and experiencing some camping fun ! Join us  at 9am to help/watch put up the tents.

24th-28th April Fields of Remembrance
Schools throughout New Zealand are setting up ‘Fields of Remembrance’ honouring New Zealanders who fell during WW1. We have 30 white crosses that bear the names of men and woman who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. Our children will help assemble the crosses. They will be on our field over ANZAC weekend. During the weekend please bring your families to pray and reflect as you observe the field.
ANZAC Liturgy
Our Senior classes will be at camp on Friday 24th April so we will celebrate our ANZAC DAY Liturgy on Tuesday 28th April at 9.10am-Please join us as we remember those who have fought for our country especially as we remember the Centenary of WW1. If your family have medals or photos of family members who fought in WW1, it would be great if your children could bring them to the service.
Marae Trip– Te Noho Marae Wainuiomata Fri 1 May– Year 4s will be sleeping over on the Thursday night and the rest of our school will be visiting on Friday for a powhiri and lunch. You are welcome to join us for this trip but will need to arrange your own transport.


Topic– Rooms 1 & 2 will be studying ‘Keeping ourselves Safe’ on the road, near fire and in an earthquake. Rooms 3,4 and 9 will be finding out about Disasters.
RE– Weeks 1-5 We will be learning about the Holy Spirit and Pentecost and then Weeks 6-11 we will be learning about our Creator God in our God Strand.



PE-We are currently training for our Cross country in week 3 and on Tuesdays will have Soccer training. Then Tennis instructors will help us with their sport. At the end of the term we will have a few weeks of Jump Jam aerobics.


Season’s Programme
The Season’s Programme runs every two years at our school. The programme is designed by the diocese. They provide trained companions who mentor the children. It is for any of our children who have suffered loss or grief whether it’s from divorce, separation or death. 
The programme begins with a parent meeting. The Facilitators will be introduced and will explain the programme. The programme will begin in Week 3 and it runs for 8 weeks and is during school time. Please contact the school if you wish your child/children to attend.

Remembrance Wall



Remembrance Wall
We have an Anzac Remembrance wall in the School foyer- write the names of family members who fought in WW1 and WW2 on the crosses provided and pin them on the wall. You can also put photos on the wall. We will be praying for them and their families.
